Taste & See: A Season of God’s Goodness 🍂

Oct 4
2 min read

There is something about October that makes me want to slow down.

The cooler mornings arrive, the leaves begin to change, and the kitchen starts calling for cinnamon, apples, pumpkin, and all those comforting recipes that make a house smell like home.

But this October, I want to do more than simply enjoy the season.

I want to taste and see the goodness of God.

📖 “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” — Psalm 34:8 KJV

Welcome to Our October Baking Series 🍎

Throughout October, Goodies and the Gospel™ will be combining two things that have always gone beautifully together: something homemade and the Word of God.

Each week, I'll be sharing a new fall recipe for us to make together. But we're not stopping at the kitchen.

Throughout the week, we'll also share Scripture, encouragement, simple acts of hospitality, and little reminders to look for God's goodness in our everyday lives.

We'll be baking:

🍎 Apple Cinnamon Bread — remembering God's goodness

🎃 Pumpkin Streusel Muffins — cultivating a thankful heart

🍁 Maple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls — learning to wait and rest in Him

🤎 Old-Fashioned Molasses Cookies — remembering His faithfulness

Some weeks we'll bake.

Some days we'll slow down and reflect.

Other days, I may challenge you to wrap up a few of those homemade goodies and give them to someone who could use a little encouragement.

Because I've come to believe that sometimes ministry looks like an open Bible—and sometimes it looks like showing up at someone's door with a plate of something homemade and reminding them that they are loved.

Look for His Goodness

October is filled with beautiful things, but seasons don't stay the same for long.

The colorful leaves eventually fall. The warm autumn afternoons turn cold. And before we know it, another season begins.

Our lives have seasons, too.

Some are beautiful. Some are difficult. Some are filled with abundance, while others require us to simply trust God one day at a time.

But through every season, one thing remains:

God is good.

So, this month, I hope you'll join me in intentionally looking for His goodness.

Open your Bible.

Bake something homemade.

Gather your family around the table.

Invite someone over.

Deliver a treat to a neighbor.

Thank God for the ordinary blessings you usually rush past.

And when life feels uncertain, remember the second half of our October verse:

“…blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” — Psalm 34:8 KJV

Let's Bake Our Way Through October 🍂

Our first recipe is coming up soon: Homemade Apple Cinnamon Bread. 🍎🍞

Warm apples, cinnamon, and a homemade loaf seem like the perfect way to begin a month dedicated to slowing down and recognizing God's goodness.

I hope you'll bake along with me—and maybe make an extra loaf to share.

Let's fill our kitchens with something homemade, our homes with hospitality, and most importantly, our hearts with the Word of God.

Welcome to Taste & See: A Season of God’s Goodness.

Let's see what the Lord has for us this October. 🤎
